Climb the DOLDER (1291, 1565)
The Dolder Museum is housed in the city’s landmark tower, once used as a defensive gateway, watchtower and belfry.
The museum allows visitors to discover a fortified vinegrowing town and its evolution from the 13th to the 17th century:
- its passive defences (ramparts, parapets, towers, gates),
- its means of active defense (edged weapons and firearms, bourgeois soldiers),
- its fire prevention and fire-fighting resources,
- the tower’s occupants and their functions (doormen, guards, watchmen, night watchmen).
From the 4th level, you’ll have an impressive view of the city’s rooftops and the Alsace plain.
